Visitors from the east

Last weekend my three sisters came to Nashville, and we had a grand ole time, enjoying the summer-like weather, seeing the sights, walking around town (and Radnor Lake), and talking up a storm. Good times had by all.*

*I think. No negative reviews of my hosting yet!

Advocacy apparel.

You are correct, that IS a tie with mold spores and fungus mushrooms on it! What's that, you would prefer to sport something featuring, oh, hepatitis B or influenza? Coming right up.

All available here. Father's Day, here we come.

Sunday, April 3

Life's short, so take a few days off work.

Last Sunday Ben called and told me he was going to come through Philly, so I got super-stoked for a night of hanging out with Ben and all of his awesomeness. He had to drive 10 hours from NC to Philly in his 1980 diesel VW rabbit. When he called from the road to clarify directions he could barely hear me over the Rabbit's healthy rumble.

Anyhow, Ben arrived without drama and I made egg sandwiches for old times' sake. We went to Johnny Brenda's then came home to have a fire in the ol'  fire apparatus (well, new to me)even though it was cold as all-get-out. At some point I decided to join Ben on his day trip to NYC, so I called out of work for a few days and booked a ticket on Megabus, and at 6am the following morning we were off to NYC.

Ben had a few meetings and plenty of time in-between to check out galleries, eat, walk around, etc. We met up with a friend of a friend and spent the night at her place in Brooklyn, after hanging out at a gallery opening (it turned out to be more of a bar with a PowerPoint presentation going, but hey). We headed back to Manhattan the next day, ate good Vietnamese food, checked out the largest camera/video store in the world, and made our way to lower Manhattan for another meeting. Before we knew it, we were hanging out near the bus stop waiting to go back to Philly.

Honestly, it was a lot of fun: I miss Ben and Alexis a lot, and ditching work to hang out with Ben was just what I needed.I miss him (again) already.

In other news, the idiot that burnt a copy of the Qur'an really has me down. There is so much hatred in this world, and when people who call themselves Christians do stuff like this, it makes me feel like the entire human race is terrible. But in response to that I listened to Matisyahu's track "One Day" about 6 times and my hope for the human race is slowly being restored.

Well, this has been quite a ramble with no pics. Worst blog post yet!

Debauchery, Southern-style

This statue is usually nude, but a few local bars clothed it for St. Patrick's Day. I think the message is: keep it classy, Nashville.

I'm blowin' up on the blogosphere!

So, when you get mentioned in another blog does that make you totally blog-famous?

Well, check me out here on another blog, pretty soon I'll be blowin' up all over the place.

Just kidding. The nice part is that I don't have to type much for this post as Zac already did a great job explaining my project.

One Tree and Two Wrong Turns

I was driving around on Sunday looking for poorly-planted trees and hit the mother lode at the Home Depot in King of Prussia. Pretty much every tree there has about 18 inches of mulch piled up on the poor little tree, which causes moisture to rot the trunk. Then fungus gets in and then insects, and then you have a dead tree -- sad, really. So for everyone out there, this is not good. You have been warned.

Anyhow, I made a wrong turn into a carpool parking lot which was also apparently a bus stop. A bike rack was there for all the cyclists, but instead of bikes on the rack there were not 1 but 2 devices to help the mobility-impaired among us. A wheelchair and a walker were both locked to the rack. My guess is that these folks wheel themselves to the bus stop, get off here, and go right to the liquor store which is the only thing around. Crazy.

If you are sensitive to foul language don't scroll down any further, but I couldn't resist sharing. A few weeks ago I made a wrong turn and saw this graffiti:

Apparently I make a lot of wrong turns. Gotta love Philly and the graffiti, although I'm not sure where whores are not supposed to go -- and what if you aren't driving a car with windows* to smash?

*or more accurately, your "window's" what?
